Day 84- June 4, 2020

Day 84- June 4, 2020

Pinkie the Flamingo and Mari-Gold the Unicorn
We have a pool!  It's up, and the temperature was in the high 80's today, so of course, the kids wanted to jump in immediately.  I used our inflator to blow up our unicorn and flamingo floats that a friend picked up at 5 Below a couple of weeks ago.   Her kids' camps all got canceled this summer, and with four children, her family collectively decided a backyard above ground pool was the way to go to avoid them all losing their minds.  Since she was headed to the store (which had started contact free curbside pickup the day the governor authorized it last week), she offered to grab some stuff for my kids, and I Venmoed her the money for our floaties.  They've been in boxes for a few weeks, but today, they gloriously came to bright pink and rainbow life.  The unicorn was even kind enough to sprinkle glitter everywhere when I opened its box (apparently, the see-through section of the tube has glitter in it.  At some point, in the box, some of said glitter migrated outside of the unicorn- not sure how, because the inflator thing has one of those valves on it to keep air, and presumably glitter).  Now, there is glitter in my living room rug, which is where I oh-so-intelligently opened the box.

The girls were beyond excited to get into the water, and with the temperature outside reaching over 85, the fact that the pool was somewhere in the 60-70 region didn't phase them.  We did make them get out periodically to warm up, though, lying on the towels in the sun and reading The Babysitter's Club (R. aptly picked up one where Jessi tries synchronized swimming) and The Magic Treehouse.

It's starting to feel like summer with the hot sun and the lack of interest in school.  The kids are reaching their breaking point, and I can't really blame them.  I just wish the pollen would get the message, because allergies are still awful, and I want to be able to spend time outside with my family!
